MSL/DOQQ_1990s (ImageServer)

View In:   ArcGIS JavaScript   ArcGIS Online Map Viewer   ArcGIS Earth

Service Description: This is a mosaic of black and white orthorectified aerial photos of Montana and Yellowstone National Park that were taken predominantly in the 1990s. Some areas in Missoula, Lake, and Sanders counties were photographed in 2000 through 2003. The mosaic footprint layer has an attribute field called Image_Year that gives the year the image was taken and a field called Image_Main_Date that gives the first date from the USGS metadata for the image. Some images contain data from multiple dates, but there is no indication of which parts of an image may be from a different date than the Image_Main_Date.The images that form this mosaic were obtained by the Montana State Library between 1998 and 2004 from the U.S. Geological Survey and converted from UTM coordinates to State Plane coordinates. In order to allow zero to represent no-data values for the resulting images, all pixels with a value of 0 were assigned a value of 1. The images of the mosaic are all in Montana State Plane coordinates, units meters, datum NAD83. The coordinate system of the image mosaic is Web Mercator Auxilliary Sphere. The images overlap each other by about 400 meters around their edges. The mosaic is configured by default so that the images with higher record numbers always cover images with lower record numbers, so that the appearance of the mosaic is static. Users of the mosaic may choose other mosaic methods that allow control over which image is displayed in areas where they cover each other.
